Our students learn how to craft policies in an inclusive way to assist underserved groups.
During their time at La Follette, students can learn from experts in equitable policymaking. Through their coursework, students may work directly with organizations that help communities across Wisconsin. Recent student projects include helping estimate refugee service needs in Brown County, WI and a cost-benefit analysis of expanding access to child care in La Crosse County, WI.
Elevating Equity
Our Elevating Equity in Policymaking event series connects students with policy experts engaging in equity work. Many of these experts are La Follette School alumni.

Focusing on underserved groups
In keeping with the Wisconsin Idea, our master’s degree students may work directly with organizations supporting underserved communities as part of their coursework. Cost-benefit analyses and other policy-analysis projects often serve as feasibility studies, providing insights to organizations with limited resources.
