What is public policy?

Policy is a set of decisions governments or organizations make to serve the needs of many people and achieve specific goals. In health policy, those goals usually focus on the health and well-being of a society. As a policy student, you will learn to pose questions about complex problems, research and identify solutions, and anticipate what these approaches will look like in action.

What can I do with a policy certificate or degree?

A policy certificate or degree opens doors to many career paths across public, private, or nonprofit organizations. Graduates go on to a variety of roles, including designing, implementing, or evaluating policy; legislative advocacy; and more.

Students with the health policy certificate regularly work as health professionals or in public health or healthcare consulting.

With a La Follette School certificate, you’ll gain valuable analytical, critical thinking, and communication skills that will set you up for success in any field.
