Why the La Follette School?

When I was an undergraduate student at UW–Madison, I learned about the La Follette School’s new Certificate in Public Policy program. This was a great way for me to explore career options in public policy, take classes from amazing professors, and get access to helpful advisors at the School. This experience encouraged me to continue my education toward an MPA. I was especially excited about the wide variety of course topics, extensive alumni network, and smaller class sizes.

Career goals

I plan to work at the state or local level of government in Wisconsin after graduation. Through the many informative career and networking events at the La Follette School, I developed an interest in civil service at a community level. Conversations with alumni got me excited about the opportunities to work in collaboration with community members. Specifically, I am interested in the exploring careers at the Legislative Audit Bureau and the Department of Health Services.

Most rewarding La Follette School experience

My most rewarding experience has been getting to know the community. My classmates have unique life experiences they bring to the classroom, which make discussions engaging. Many of my professors do groundbreaking research, which they are always willing to discuss with students. Finally, the La Follette School has a diverse alumni network, giving me the ability to explore many unique career areas.
