Why an MPA and the La Follette School?

I learned about LFS in high school during an informational session while I was participating in the Wisconsin Senate Scholar program. The accelerated MPA program drew me to the La Follette School.

Career goals

I aim to pursue a role advocating for disabled folks.

Internship

I was a public affairs intern for the State Department under the special advisor on international disability rights through the Virtual Student Federal Service (VSFS) program. My lived experiences as a disabled person, experience with community-based research in undergrad, and policy familiarity through jobs and La Follette courses in undergrad and now grad school helped me get this internship.

Work with clients

In undergrad, I worked on a class project where we did a program evaluation for El Centro Cultural de Mexico, a nonprofit in Santa Ana, California. It was a great experience to do real-world community-based research, from interviewing their volunteers to coding the data, organizing our findings, and then preparing the final report.

La Follette School Student Association

I am one of the student representatives on the LFS Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Committee, where I work alongside another student representative and faculty and staff members to prepare a DEI plan for the school, set goals and metrics for improvement, and report out concerns students may have.

People would be surprised if they knew that I …

used to be a figure skater and pole vaulter!
