The WTO, Trade, and Environmental Governance

This report for the International Institute for Sustainable Development (IISD) explores the intersection of trade and the environment. It analyzes key World Trade Organization (WTO) provisions and cases related to the environment as well as important multilateral environmental agreements. We also examined a case study on border carbon adjustments (BCA). This section contains the application of evaluative criteria on BCA policy alternatives. Using this information, the report concludes with recommendations for IISD to consider in its work with the WTO and regarding other key areas of trade related to climate and the environment.
