Provider Insights and Policy Innovations: Exploring Supports for Child Care Business Viability in Outagamie County

The Greater Fox Valley Alliance for Child Care (Alliance) is a coalition of regional nonprofits and philanthropies in the Fox Valley region that support the child care industry and its stakeholders. As in other regions of Wisconsin, the child care industry in the Fox Valley has long faced serious challenges. Outagamie County, the Alliance, and the University of Wisconsin–Madison partnered to find ways to support the profitability and financial viability of the region’s child care industry. This report focuses on the business challenges that local child care providers face. This report’s findings are informed by responses and discussions with local child care providers. In view of the challenges child care providers reported, this report ends with recommendations for the county and Alliance to pursue to improve the business viability and economic development of child care.
