The La Follette School is excited to announce two new Board of Visitors (BOV) members in 2022.
Jack Salzwedel is board chair of American Family Insurance, where he started his career in 1983 as a claim adjuster and worked his way up to serving as CEO until his retirement in 2021. Jack and his wife, Sarah, have established the Slife Institute for Social Work Consultation, Research and Training at their alma mater, Wartburg College. Jack has a deep interest in the areas of social and racial equity, education, the environment, and healthcare, and serves on a variety of community and corporate boards.
Theresa Mintle is a civic leader and dedicated public servant who focuses on small to mid-size businesses, emerging elected leaders, and volunteerism. Theresa is an alum of the La Follette School, where she received her MA in 1991. In her public service career, Theresa served as the Interim Vice Chancellor for the Office of Public and Government Affairs at the University of Illinois at Chicago and served as Chief of Staff to Rahm Emanuel. Theresa was the first woman to lead the Chicagoland Chamber of Commerce and was recognized by Crain’s Chicago Business as one of the 20 most powerful women in Chicago.
Since 2015, the La Follette School BOV has played a vital part in providing guidance to the School. The BOV is comprised of business partners and other collaborators representing the public and private sectors who are interested in seeing the La Follette School succeed. Many members are La Follette School alumni or have other connections to the School. The BOV helps to identify resources that can enhance the stature and standing of the School, help with fundraising, provide career advice and assistance to students, and act as goodwill ambassadors for the School.
