Brittney Mitchell and Mary Michaud

Mary Michaud and Brittney Mitchell have joined the La Follette School staff. Michaud is a faculty associate, and Mitchell is an outreach specialist.

Michaud joins the Student Services team, teaching several courses and providing academic advising to undergraduate certificate students. She has a bachelor’s degree in political science from UW–Madison and a master’s degree in public policy studies from the University of Chicago. Michaud most recently worked as an instructor and editor at the Center for Patient Partnerships at the UW Law School. She also is the founder of Health & Social Impact Strategies and a senior healthcare analyst at Ripple Effect.

Mitchell joins the Outreach team, filling the position formerly held by Bridget Pirsch, who retired in August. She will assist with planning and implementing the School’s outreach activities. Mitchell has a bachelor’s degree from Luther College and a master’s degree in nonprofit management and arts administration from the University of Oregon. She most recently worked in event management and public outreach at Minnesota Public Radio.

“We are excited for Mary and Brittney to join our growing staff,” said Associate Director Steve Kulig (MPA ’14). “They will be instrumental in moving the La Follette School’s mission forward, whether through expanding our undergraduate programming or convening stakeholders to inspire evidence-based policymaking.”
