PA 974 China’s Policymaking and Global Influence

Commonly Offered: This course is very likely to be offered in the next one to three years.

The course discusses two major themes related to China: (1) the policymaking process of the Chinese government and the major policy challenges of China (e.g., environmental protection, public health, sustainable economic development among many others), and (2) the economic and political impact of the Chinese politics, including the US-China trade war, the impact of China’s trade on other countries’ political economic landscape, and China’s role in international organizations. We will read and discuss recent academic research published in top economics and political science journals about these two themes in our class.
