Lauri Asbury (MPA student) started a project assistantship this fall with Professor Manny Teodoro. She will be studying ideological composition of bureaucratic agencies and democratic stability. Asbury worked on renewable energy policy and research as a policy and government affairs intern for RENEW Wisconsin this past fall, spring, and summer. Asbury is also active in student governance serving on the La Follette School Student Association board, and in Associated Students of Madison (ASM) as the student representative to the Vice Chancelor of Finance and Administration (VCFA), and as an active student member for the Committee of Undergraduate Recruitment, Admissions, and Financial Aid (CURAFA).

Taryn Hanson (certificate in public policy student) recently accepted a paralegal position at the Wisconsin Department of Justice. In this role, she will be working in the Division of Legal Services, Special Litigation Unit, which will combine her passions for state government and the law.

Evelyn Sellers (certificate in public policy student) was named the 2023 recipient of the Political Science Department’s Elaine C. Davis Award, which is bestowed upon a graduating senior with an outstanding academic record and a record of public service on campus and within the community. Sellers is pursuing an environmental studies and political science double major and taking classes towards certificates in public policy and history.

Mia Williams (MPA-MPH student) is the recipient of the 2023 Brenton Health Policy Scholarship, an annual award that recognizes an outstanding La Follette student who plans to pursue a career in the health sector. Williams is a dual degree MPA-MPH student who started her La Follette career as a certificate in public policy student. Williams mentors undergraduate students from her hometown, Chicago, through UW–Madison’s Posse Program. She also works as a policy intern for the Healthcare Anchor Network and supports the work of their Aligning to Advance Policy initiative group, which focuses on affordable housing and workforce development advocacy. Her ultimate career goal is to direct a policy institute or think tank.
