La Follette undergraduates Washington D.C.-bound!

Ten students enrolled in the La Follette School’s Undergraduate Certificate in Public Policy program will spend part of the summer in our nation’s capital through the Wisconsin in Washington (WiW) internship program.

As part of the La Follette School’s Undergraduate Certificate in Public Policy program, students are required to complete a professional policy internship or experience. The WiW internship program is a popular opportunity to do so, and for summer 2022, 10 of the 25 WiW participants will be La Follette undergraduate certificate students.

La Follette School director of career and employer services, Marie Koko, has served on the WiW Steering Committee for several years. “I am a huge supporter of the experience this program can offer to students in general, and policy students in particular,” says Koko. “Beyond internships on Capitol Hill, our students have interned with think tanks, trade associations, media organizations, scholarship programs, lobbying firms, and a wide range of nonprofits. Many have parlayed this experience into their first post-UW career, as the networking possibilities in D.C. are unparalleled.”
