Bazan, Shaffer join School staff

Ann Shaffer and Page Bazan

Ann Shaffer and Page Bazan have joined the La Follette School’s Outreach Team. They will play important roles in the School’s efforts to elevate its state and national prominence and reputation for policy research and engagement through the Kohl Initiative.

“We are deeply grateful to Sen. Herb Kohl for his commitment to the La Follette School and the exceptional work we do,” said La Follette School Director and Professor Susan Webb Yackee. “Sen. Kohl’s $10 million gift provides financial resources for these and several other staff and faculty positions that are critical to our success.”

Shaffer joins the Outreach Team as a senior university relations specialist and will work closely with faculty to extend the impact of their research. She is a veteran journalist, editor, technical writer, and project manager and has a passion for explaining faculty research to a general audience.

Bazan, a university relations specialist, will assist the Outreach Team with website content, social media, email messaging, and graphic design. He has a wealth of knowledge in digital communications and is eager to help grow the La Follette School community.

Bazan comes to the La Follette School from the Nelson Institute of Environmental Studies, where he worked with the Energy Analysis and Policy program and a NASA-funded project. Shaffer has extensive experience as a freelance writer and editor, and she most recently worked for the University’s Division of Continuing Studies.
