Building community as one of the first public policy majors
I hope to build community for the new undergraduate major in public policy by helping students utilize the resources available to them and by beginning the early development of a future student organization centered around public policy students. While the idea is still in its initial stages, I am excited to help establish a space where students can interact and connect with their peers as the major and certificates grow.
What most excites you about the ability to major in public policy
The ability to take additional policy classes to expand my knowledge into other policy areas. Specifically, I am looking forward to taking some education policy classes next semester.
Why public policy
I took PA 200 as a freshman and enjoyed learning about the different policy spheres. From there, I decided to add the public policy certificate. After taking more policy classes last semester, I decided that adding public policy as a major would be a great fit. Along with being a political science major, these two fields have a lot of overlap, which allows for a great deal of course flexibility.
Student worker
I am the undergraduate student worker for the La Follette undergraduate advising team. I was drawn to the position because of the student-facing interaction and the opportunity to improve the overall experience for undergraduate students pursuing public policy. In this role, I assist undergraduate students with general questions they may have regarding our undergraduate programs, as well as support the advising team by providing feedback to strengthen student resources and communication.
What do you enjoy most about working with La Follette students or staff?
I enjoy how welcoming and friendly everyone is. People are always willing to meet to discuss projects or to learn more about their role in the department.
Anything else
I enjoy exploring and checking out local coffee shops and taking walks around Lake Monona. Feel free to reach out to connect.
