In this report, La Follette students evaluate the impacts of funding initiatives on the treatment of private wells in Wisconsin.
Summary
This cost-benefit analysis addresses growing concerns about increasing contamination levels in Wisconsin’s private wells, which pose significant health risks. To determine the most effective approach for addressing private well contamination, the report compares the statutory Well Compensation Grant Program, which has strict eligibility requirements, with an expanded version funded by the American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA). The report’s quantitative analysis supports the recommendation to expand the Well Compensation Grant Program eligibility.
