Summary

This report builds on a spring 2024 La Follette School capstone report, which made five recommendations for the Wisconsin Department of Health Services (DHS) to mitigate oral health disparities, including to expand mobile dentistry in low-utilization and access areas. This cost-benefit analysis studies expanding mobile dentistry in areas of low utilization and with few Medicaid providers. The analysis shows that it is beneficial for DHS to implement mobile dentistry and deploy mobile dental vans to underserved communities that struggle to receive routine dental care, finding a net benefit of $111,470 for a single mobile dental van.
