Summary

This report evaluates the expansion of Jama’s property tax exoneration program to all forested hectares in the 2019 ACUS region over a 25-year timeline, seeking to understand whether expanding the program for forest conservation can reduce deforestation in a cost-effective manner. The report recommends the expansion and suggests that the proposed policy will generate significant net economic benefits on both regional and global levels as it proved to be an effective tool for reducing deforestation in Manabí and supporting sustainable rural livelihoods.
