Mindy Walker

About

Mindy joined the La Follette School in September 2022 and works on legislative outreach and events, putting the Wisconsin Idea into action. As the outreach coordinator, she connects the La Follette School to policymakers and the public through programs like Campus Connect, the La Follette Policy Forum, the Wisconsin Women in Government seminar, and the capstone project.

Throughout her career, Mindy has connected people to create positive impacts. Before joining La Follette, Mindy lived and worked in Myanmar where she was a consultant, training political, government and non-profit leaders in grassroots communications. For twelve years, she worked with local and international organizations on business development and projects to strengthen democratic institutions. Prior to that, she worked in government affairs, representing over a dozen clients in the Wisconsin State Capital. Previously, Mindy served as the Appointments Director for the Governor of Wisconsin, helping to fill thousands of appointed positions throughout state government.

Mindy is excited to be back at the university where she first became involved in politics as a political science undergrad. When she isn’t “outreaching,” you can find her camping at a state park or biking about town with her family.
