The La Follette School is currently seeking project proposals for the spring semester student capstone projects. The capstone course is a culmination of graduate students’ two years of work towards their degree, allowing them to apply all the skills and tools they’ve learned in political, economic, and statistical analysis and evaluation for a real-world client.
If you have a “ready to go” project with already available data, but haven’t had time to crunch the numbers, this opportunity could help you get the analysis you need to make evidence-based strategic decisions at no cost to you. Previous projects have looked at a broad range of issues, including analyzing prosecutorial outcomes, recommending opportunities for green space expansion, and identifying the top opportunity markets for Wisconsin exporters.
“The student team produced a cost-benefit analysis on par with what I would expect from professional consultants. They are overseen by experts in their field and produce professional quality analyses.”
– Kate Battiato (MPA ’07), Vice President of Workforce Development, Wisconsin Health Care Association
“As an alumna of the La Follette School and a public policy professional, it was both rewarding and valuable to work with a La Follette capstone team. The students were consummate professionals, producing high-quality work and insightful recommendations. I highly encourage folks in the government and nonprofit spaces to consider working with a team of La Follette students.”
– Claire Zautke (MPA ’19), Policy Director, Office of Milwaukee Mayor Cavalier Johnson
The deadline to submit a project proposal is October 27, 2023, and partnerships will last from January to April 2024. Contact the La Follette School’s outreach team at outreach@lafollette.wisc.edu for additional information.
