This month, the La Follette School launched a brand-new career hub designed to connect students to policy jobs, internships, and career resources. The hub features resources on a range of policy areas, including career-building tips, student internship experiences, and regularly updated job and internship postings.
Students can sign up for personalized updates tailored to their communication preferences and policy interests, ensuring they receive opportunities that align with their goals. For example, students interested in health policy can filter results to only receive opportunities within their field.
“It allows us to put both the jobs and internships in one place that is fully searchable,” said Marie Koko, director of career and employer services at the La Follette School. “You can then narrow down to jobs, internships, articles or resources, or whatever it is you want, and find exactly what you’re looking for.”
Later this spring, the website will also integrate an AI-powered search engine to make navigation even easier. The tool will pull directly from the website, ensuring results are accurate and tailored to La Follette student needs.

These resources will help support La Follette students throughout their career journeys. By providing a one-stop shop, the hub helps students more efficiently identify jobs and internships that are tailored to their needs without scheduling an appointment with an advisor.
This effort reflects La Follette’s broader mission to prepare the next generation of leaders in public affairs by supporting them at each stage of their careers.
“We’re incredibly excited about this opportunity to support La Follette students as they grow into their careers in public affairs,” said the La Follette School’s director Susan Yackee. “We’re so grateful for Ascendium’s support in making these opportunities possible for our students.”
The development is part of an initiative to support La Follette students made possible by Ascendium Education Group. Through a $500,000 grant to support La Follette’s needs, initiatives like this one are possible to help prepare the leaders of tomorrow.
“We know that applied learning and strong career guidance are key to preparing students for success after graduation — especially for students from low-income backgrounds,” said Keith Witham, president and CEO of Ascendium Education Group. “This new career exploration resource will complement the rigorous training students receive through the La Follette School’s public policy programs and help more students translate their education into opportunity while tackling real-world challenges.”
As student interest in public policy continues to grow, La Follette remains committed to supporting students for careers in public service. Thanks to Ascendium’s support, resources like the career hub help the school to expand opportunities for students to reach their career goals.
