Alumni News – October 2021

Randy Romanski (MA ’95) was confirmed by the state Senate as secretary of the Wisconsin Department of Agriculture, Trade and Consumer Protection (DATCP). Romanski served as DATCP interim secretary since November 2019. 

Eric Tempelis (MPA ’03, JD ’06) joined the Monroe County District Attorney’s Office in September, working for Kevin Croninger, the 2020 state prosecutor of the year. Most recently, Tempelis was assistant director of the Tommy G. Thompson Center on Public Leadership at UW–Madison.

 Ceri Jenkins (MPA ’04) joined the COVID-19 Response and Recovery Team at the Wisconsin Department of Health Services in August. She previously was co-managing director of the Mayors Innovation Project at the Center on Wisconsin Strategy (COWS). 

 Pamela Ritger de la Rosa (MIPA, JD ’13) and Lamont Smith (MPA ’07) are participating in a panel discussion about the climate gap during the fourth annual Wisconsin Leadership Summit. de la Rosa is moderating the discussion, and Smith is serving as a panelist.  

 Caroline McCormack (MPA, URPL ’14) joined Enterprise Community Partners as director of preservation for northern California. She previously was a project manager in the San Francisco Mayor’s Office of Housing & Community Development. 

Kevin Lee (MIPA ’18) was promoted to Major in the U.S. Marine Corps. Lee is an assistant communicators officer in California, training fellow Marines who are preparing to deploy and testing concepts in a peer-to-peer competition paradigm shift. 

 Noah Roberts (MPA ’19) was promoted to State Federal Director, serving as a liaison and advocate for Wisconsin in Washington, D.C. Due to his relocation, he resigned as president of the Verona Area School District Board of Education. 

Abby Swetz (MPA ’19) was named communications director at the Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction in September. A former teacher, Swetz previously was a communications specialist for the Wisconsin Department of Health Services. 

 Eli Tsarovsky (BS, public policy certificate ’21) was voted president of the Campus Area Neighborhood Association in Madison and serves as the community health AmeriCorps coordinator. Tsarovsky hopes to pursue a career in public health policy. 

Emily Capodarco (MPA, JD ’21) is an associate attorney at Reinhard Boerner Van Deuren in Madison. While attending the La Follette School, she was a project assistant for WPS Health Solutions and received the 2018–19 Stephen F. Brenton Health Policy Scholar award.
