The 2024-2025 Academic Year was filled with many momentous and groundbreaking occasions that will leave an impact on the La Follette School of Public Affairs for years to come.
As you will read in this year’s Highlights Report, this past year we:
- Received UW Board of Regents approval to begin a much-anticipated undergraduate major in public policy
- Undertook our most ambitious outreach effort yet by convening more than 400 Wisconsinites in six locations across the state to practice and promote civil dialogue through our Main Street Agenda project
- Sent nearly 50 new Master of Public Policy and Master of International Public Policy graduates into the workforce to become leaders in their fields and effect change in the public policy world
- Awarded 208 undergraduate certificates and taught more than 1,000 undergraduate students, both school records
- Continued to focus on civility and bridging political divides, themes that we’ve incorporated into our curriculum and our events, such as our Spring Spotlight with former Ambassador to the United Nations Linda Thomas-Greenfield
While this historic year will be difficult to top, we continue to hold lofty goals for the upcoming year. In 2025-2026, we will focus on:
- Continuing to develop the curriculum for the forthcoming undergraduate program
- Expanding our research excellence and commitment to the Wisconsin Idea
- Building a state-of-the-art teaching, learning, and working environment
- Strengthening La Follette’s brand as a leading public policy school
