About Katherine Richard
Katherine Richard (she/her) is an Assistant Professor of Public Affairs. She holds affiliations with the McCourt School of Public Policy’s Better Government Lab, the Opportunity & Inclusive Growth Institute, and the Wilson Sheehan Lab for Economic Opportunities.
Her research quantifies barriers in the U.S. social safety net that exacerbate economic instability for families. Current projects include quantifying effects of removing people from the safety net after violating work requirements, spacing benefit income at regular intervals within the month, and simplifying income verification processes for public health insurance. Her work has been funded by the National Science Foundation, the Horowitz Foundation for Social Policy and Arnold Ventures.
