About
Love Data Week, held annually during Valentine’s week, is an international celebration of data that invites institutions and individuals to explore how data shapes our world.
Starting on Monday, February 9, there will be daily events (registration required) for students, faculty, and staff. A few highlights:
- Introduction to Finding Datasets. Learn core strategies for finding public and research datasets across a variety of disciplines (2/10 @ noon).
- Careers in Data. Discussion on careers in data, where leaders and alums from across the Big Ten Academic Alliance share their experiences and insights into the world of data (2/11 @ noon).
- The Great Data Backup. A hands-on event where volunteers learn to archive important public datasets. Together, we build a safety net that serves the public interest.
The week concludes on February 13 with the Big Ten Data Viz Championship Showcase, where the winners of Bucky’s Data Viz Challenge—Barnabas Valko (student) and Andrew Hahn (faculty/staff)—will represent UW–Madison. Explore a gallery of all the entries UW–Madison received.
