Ann Shaffer works with La Follette School faculty members to extend the reach and impact of their research. She develops and disseminates research briefs, news releases, and other publications for journalists, policymakers, and the general public, as well as website and social media content.

Ann is a veteran journalist, editor, technical writer, and project manager. She’s produced textbooks, academic articles, online learning environments, and multimedia projects in a variety of fields, including mathematics, engineering, ethics, computer programming, political science, literature, and psychology.

She has written essays, reviews, poems, and short stories for Wisconsin Public Radio, Isthmus, the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, Poetry, and other media outlets. She is also the author of a best-selling textbook on Microsoft Office and a children’s picture book.

Shaffer received her undergraduate degree from Carleton College and her master’s degree in English from UW–Madison. She has a passion for explaining faculty research to a general audience, and she’s proud to help the La Follette School advance the Wisconsin Idea through evidence-based public policymaking.
