About

Mary Davis Michaud is a dedicated educator and experienced health policy professional with a passion for engaging students in learning experiences, rather than simply delivering courses. In her work with the La Follette School of Public Affairs, she has designed and implemented innovative curricula to bridge theory and practice, preparing students to take policy analysis training into a broad range of careers in health care, research, and government. Her previous experience as an instructor at the UW Law School and an adjunct professor in the UW School of Medicine and Public Health’s Department of Population Health Sciences convinced her that a career in learning and development was the best way to contribute to future generations.

With over two decades of experience in program management, program evaluation, and leadership roles in health administration and public health, Mary’s teaching reflects deep skills in qualitative research, survey design, and professional facilitation. Her work has focused on addressing a wide range of health policy issues, including chronic disease prevention, community health, and health equity.

Mary founded a thriving consulting practice, Health & Social Impact Strategies, specializing in strategic planning, organizational development, and program evaluation. Through her work with clients in government, education, hospitality, and healthcare, Mary has developed a proven track record of designing and facilitating engaging and impactful learning experiences.

She holds a Master of Public Policy Studies and a Certificate in Health Administration from the University of Chicago Harris School of Public Policy Studies. She is also a Phi Beta Kappa graduate of the University of Wisconsin–Madison, where she received one of the first Hilldale Undergraduate Research Fellowships and was the university’s first Henry Luce Scholar in Asia. Mary serves on the Board of Directors for RISE Wisconsin, a county-funded organization providing early intervention and youth mental health services, and she serves as a member of the Advisory Board for Green Schoolyards America.
