Coming from a political science background, the La Follette School made me realize that there is more to policy than partisan debate and antics. We look at a policy from an objective point of view and review the evidence in front of us to make the judgment call if the policy is “good” or not.
The La Follette School’s passion for cultivating students’ quantitative and qualitative skills was a big reason why I chose this program.
In the La Follette School, I found a program committed in word and deed to supporting students who want to make a career of public service. That made all the difference for me.
The La Follette School was recommended to me by an alum. I was drawn to the coursework that could develop my quantitative skills and to the wide variety of elective courses that I could choose from. I knew that I wanted to use my MPA in public service and was drawn to the La Follette School as the embodiment of the Wisconsin Idea.

I plan to work in Chicago either in the public or nonprofit sector after graduation. I would love to work in the local government such as Cook County or the City of Chicago.
After completing my terminal degree, I want to work for a salient agricultural-research organization that has tangible influence on food policy – such as the US Department of Agriculture, Food & Drug Administration, or International Food Policy Research Institute.
The main thing that drew me to the La Follette School was the flexible curriculum. In my previous degrees, the curriculum was always very specialized and rigid, and I really wanted a more liberal arts style education from my graduate studies.
