The Institute for Research on Poverty (IRP) at UW–Madison, which includes several La Follette School faculty members as affiliates, has been awarded a five-year, $10.6 million cooperative agreement to serve as the national Poverty Research Center.

La Follette School Professor Emeritus Bob Haveman received the 2020 Honor a Colleague award from the Society for Benefit-Cost Analysis. The aaward recognizes Haveman’s career contributions to the theory and practice of benefit-cost analysis by his colleagues, former students, and the Society.

UW–Madison’s Center for Demography of Health and Aging (CDHA) received renewal of its funding via the National Institute of Health’s prestigious P30 grant. La Follette School Professor Jason Fletcher serves as CDHA director.

IRP named national Poverty Research Center

The Institute for Research on Poverty (IRP) at the University of Wisconsin–Madison, which includes several La Follette School faculty members as affiliates, has been awarded a five-year, $9.5 million cooperative agreement to serve as the national Poverty Research Center. The award comes as IRP marks its 50th year of examining the causes of poverty and inequality in the United States and approaches to reduce them.
