The La Follette School of Public Affairs’ first day-long career exploration program in Milwaukee provided graduate and undergraduate students with opportunities to learn from alumni and others working in government and public policy organizations.

Three students at the La Follette School of Public Affairs conducted field research overseas during spring break as part of their Master of International Public Affairs capstone project.

Two University of Wisconsin-Madison students, including one from the La Follette School of Public Affairs, were selected as a team finalist in the 2016 Policy Solutions Challenge USA competition.

Prospective students visit campus

More than 40 prospective students participating in the La Follette School of Public Affairs’ Visit Day on Monday, March 28 learned the numerous advantages of attending the comparatively small program on the world-class University of Wisconsin-Madison campus.

As a newspaper reporter, John Vander Meer learned the impact of government policy on people’s lives. That sparked his interest in how public policy was constructed and brought him back to his hometown and the La Follette School of Public Affairs.

Alumni and friends of the La Follette School of Public Affairs at UW-Madison are invited to a reception at the Milwaukee Sail Loft on Thursday, March 31. The reception follows the School’s first day-long La Follette in Milwaukee career exploration program.

La Follette School Director Susan Yackee will moderate the Wisconsin Women in Government’s leadership panel discussion Tuesday, February 9 at the Pyle Center on the UW-Madison campus.

La Follette student Colin Higgins has been named a recipient of the Rhodes Scholarship.

First-year La Follette students met with alumni and other public policy professionals.

Seminar series starts September 2

The La Follette School seminar series gets underway for the year on Wednesday, September 2, with a session for students to discuss how they can make the most out of the series while earning course credit. The seminar meets at 12:30 p.m. in the school conference room.
