Alumni take top prize at LSSA Trivia Night

After a hard-fought battle – including a tie-breaker question – the Elder Belles won the La Follette School Student Association’s (LSSA) first Trivia Night, which raised more than $700 for their graduation celebration and other projects.

Mother Nature saved some of the summer’s best weather for the La Follette School’s annual Hill Fest celebration. Atop Observatory Hill and under blue skies, more than 120 students, alumni, friends, faculty, and staff marked the start of the 2016–17 academic year with a picnic dinner and enthusiastic conversations.

Marjorie Matthews of the Robert M. La Follette School of Public Affairs was honored Thursday with a University Staff Excellence Award from the College of Letters & Science (L&S). 

The decline of wage-labor opportunities, marriage and family stability – especially for unskilled younger adults – puts many Wisconsin families at a cumulative disadvantage, La Follette School Professor Tim Smeeding told members of the Wisconsin Future of the Family Commission.

Department administrator search begins

The La Follette School launched its search this week for a department administrator. La Follette School alumni are encouraged to apply.

La Follette School University Services Associate Marjorie Matthews has received two awards for her community service.

More than 60 alumni and friends plan to attend the La Follette School's Madison reception on Thursday, February 5, at Inn on the Park's Top of the Park, 22 South Carroll St., from 4:30 to 7 p.m.

Two dozen La Follette School students descended on Chicago November 6 for a whirlwind career exploration visit, the second such event sponsored by the school in the past year.
