Alumni, friends invited to reception Feb. 3

More than 50 alumni and friends are expected to join La Follette School faculty, staff and students at the annual Madison reception on Thursday, February 3. More than 50 alumni, friends of the La Follette School and faculty renewed their friendships and ties to their alma mater at the school's reception in Washington, D.C., on November 4.

Alumni, students set June 15 happy hour

Incoming and continuing students can meet La Follette School alumni at a happy hour on Wednesday, June 15, at Zander's Capitol Grill, 118 State Street, from 4ish to 7ish in the evening.

Director Don Moynihan announced May 10 the appointment of Steve Kulig (MPA ’14) as the La Follette School’s associate director. Kulig, the school’s department administrator and career services coordinator since April 2016, replaces Hilary Shager (MPA ’05, PhD ’12), who joined UW–Madison’s Institute for Research on Poverty earlier this year.

Hilary Shager (MPA ’05, PhD, ’12) of the La Follette School of Public Affairs received an Early Career Academic Staff award from the Letters & Science Professional Development and Recognition Committee on April 13.

For La Follette School alum Kate Battiato, a career is about relationships. Her internships led to paid positions that connected her with mentors and colleagues she met again when she went to work for the Legislature.

Bobs bike the barns

La Follette School students, faculty, staff and alumni participated in Bike the Barns, a fund-raising for FairShare Community Supported Agriculture Coalition on September 14.

The La Follette School welcomed Bonnie MacRitchie as a senior outreach specialist in late August. MacRitchie will help develop and implement the School’s outreach activities and events for policymakers, partners, and the public. Her projects include the Family Impact Seminars, Committee Connect, conferences, and symposia.

Mary Russell, La Follette School career development coordinator, has been elected to serve as president-elect of the Student Personnel Association at the University of Wisconsin–Madison. After serving one year, she will serve a year as president, then another as past-president.

Career services job candidates sought

The La Follette School of Public Affairs is seeking a full-time career services coordinator for its student services team. Applications are due Friday, July 26.
