What a difference a year has made – 10 exceptional faculty, 19 outstanding certificate program graduates, 350 dedicated health policy leaders, three enthusiastic staff, and so much more. Simply put, the La Follette School of Public Affairs at UW–Madison is experiencing the most extensive growth in its 37-year history.
The La Follette School’s legislative outreach efforts were going strong right up until Gov. Tony Evers’ stay-at-home order on March 24, 2020. By that date, 50 of the 132 Wisconsin legislative offices had participated in at least one event such as the Family Impact Seminar, Office Hours at the Capitol, or La Follette Forum on Health Policy, or engaged in personal meetings.
Nearly one year ago, the La Follette School received the largest gift in School history – a $10 million donation from former US Sen. Herb Kohl known as the Kohl Initiative. Sen. Kohl’s generosity already has had a tremendous impact on the La Follette School, the UW–Madison campus, and the broader community.
