Sociologist to discuss prisoner re-entry

Prisoner re-entry is the topic of the La Follette School seminar on Tuesday, October 1, from 12:15-1:30 p.m. in 8417 Sewell Social Sciences.

1993 alum Bill Cosh's talk about his career path is available online. The Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources spokesperson spoke at the La Follette School on April 10.

State attorneys group thanks student

The Wisconsin District Attorneys Association presented a plaque to La Follette School student Scott Wood April 10 to recognize his contributions to the interests of justice and public safety in Wisconsin.

A new law should help slow the turnover of Wisconsin's prosecutors highlighted in a 2011 La Follette School report, as well as improve the delivery of justice in Wisconsin.

Students can hear about the State Department's Bureau of International Narcotics and Law Enforcement Affairs at 11 a.m. on Thursday, October 14, in the La Follette School conference room.

An analysis by La Follette School students that could help the state of Illinois reduce its corrections costs is available online as a working paper.

A cost-benefit analysis by La Follette School students is cited several times in a health impact assessment of the predicted results of increased funds for treatment alternative and diversion programs, which include drug and alcohol treatment courts, day reporting centers, and mental health treatment courts.

Students collect books for Wisconsin prisons

The La Follette School Student Association is collecting donations of books for Wisconsin's correctional facilities.

Twenty-nine La Follette School students are going to Chicago on Thursday, November 6, for a career development visit that culminates with an alumni reception from 5:30 to 7 p.m. at the Chicagoland Chamber of Commerce in the Wrigley Building, Suite 900, 410 N. Michigan Avenue.

Two dozen La Follette School students descended on Chicago November 6 for a whirlwind career exploration visit, the second such event sponsored by the school in the past year.
