Alum Bill Schmitt is spending the summer of 2015 at home in Wisconsin before starting a new position in Turkey, assisting with Catholic Relief Services' ongoing humanitarian needs. WauwatosaNow.com profiled him in a July 1, 2015, article. He graduated from the La Follette School in 2005 with a Master of International Public Affairs degree.

2000 alum Carole Schaeffer comments in an InBusiness discussion about multifamily housing development and the boom in luxury apartments in Madison. She is director of Smart Growth Greater Madison, and president of her own consulting firm.

La Follette School of Public Affairs alum Peter Tempelis is Wisconsin’s 2015 Assistant District Attorney of the year.

State attorneys group thanks student

The Wisconsin District Attorneys Association presented a plaque to La Follette School student Scott Wood April 10 to recognize his contributions to the interests of justice and public safety in Wisconsin.

The generalist in Emma Schumann drew her to the La Follette School and its Master of Public Affairs degree, as did advice from a couple of alumni and a faculty members.

2011 alum Jonny Hunter received the Forward under 40 award from the Wisconsin Alumni Association for his innovative Underground Food Collective and work in food policy.

Second-year student Scott Wood presented his analysis of Wisconsin assistant district attorney staffing to the executive board of the Wisconsin District Attorneys Association and Wisconsin Attorney General Brad Schimel, who attended the February board meeting.

La Follette School students got a firsthand view of how two nonpartisan legislative service agencies function when they visited the Legislative Fiscal Bureau and the Legislative Audit Bureau on February 6.
