State hiring manager to speak with students Feb. 21

A section chief with the Wisconsin Department of Health Services will discuss agency management of fiscal operations and the development of good policy for Wisconsin's long-term care Medicaid programs in a noon session Friday, February 21, in the La Follette School conference room.

Dave Varana, section chief and hiring manager in the Division of Long Term Care, will speak with students about the agency's work, issues in health policy and the agency's hiring plans.

"This brown bag is a great chance for our students interested in health policy or fiscal analysis to learn how a state agency hires and operates," says career development coordinator Kate Battiato. "Publicly funded long-term care programs represent a more than $3.3 billion annual investment in services for Wisconsin's elderly, blind, and disabled residents, so the division is a good match for La Follette students' skillsets."
