School hosts health economics conference

Junior and senior economists discussed the latest health economics research at the fourth annual Midwest Health Economics Conference hosted by the La Follette School in April.

Topics that participants discussed included regional variation in physician beliefs and patient preferences, the outpatient surgery market, nurse practitioners and health outcomes, Medicaid eligibility, public health insurance expansions and the adoption of technology by hospitals, and the effects of peers on health behaviors.

Participants included La Follette School professors Thomas DeLeire and Barbara Wolfe, and 2002 alum Chad Cotti, who is an economics professor at the University of Wisconsin–Oshkosh. The conference was April 4-5.
