Reporters to talk about Wisconsin 2010 budget repair bill

The Wisconsin governor's wide-ranging budget-repair bill that ended public-sector collective bargaining will be discussed by two journalists on Tuesday, April 30, from noon to 1 p.m. in the La Follette School Conference Room.

In a talk titled "More Than They Bargained For: Scott Walker, Unions, and the Fight for Wisconsin," Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reporters Patrick Marley and Jason Stein will talk about the book they have written about governor Scott Walker and the 2011 events surrounding passage of the bill. The book covers the Senate Democrats' decision to leave the state to try to block the bill; Democrats' talks with both union leaders and Republicans while in Illinois; and the reason compromise has become a "dirty word" in politics today.
