Red tape research cited

A guest post in a Washington Post blog cites red tape research by professors Pamela Herd and Donald Moynihan.

Their co-author, Elizabeth Rigby, a political scientist at George Washington University, discusses analysis on the administrative burden — aka red tape — related to Medicaid and draws parallels to the implementation of the Affordable Care Act. They found that states with the most complex processes for applying for Medicaid were those where the Republican Party had dominated state government for a long time.

The original study appears in the journal Administration & Society.
