The La Follette School of Public Affairs is seeking an outreach specialist to assist with legislative and other activities that connect UW–Madison faculty members and guests with state lawmakers, scholars, and community members. La Follette School alumni are encouraged to apply.
Under the supervision of the director of legislative outreach, this new staff member will help expand the reach of Committee Connect, one of the School’s three key nonpartisan legislative outreach programs. Committee Connect provides state legislative committee leaders timely, individualized connections with UW–Madison faculty members and researchers to help answer specific policy questions.
Heidi Normandin (MPA ’98) leads the School’s legislative outreach programs, which also include the Wisconsin Family Impact Seminars and Office Hours at the Capitol. The Family Impact Seminars has provided state legislators with high-quality, objective research since 1993. The seminars respond to legislators’ information needs by bringing in state and national experts on a wide range of topics.
The outreach specialist also will assist with planning, coordinating, and communicating School-sponsored events and special projects. The La Follette School outreach team is tasked with raising the School’s public profile, developing partnerships with organizations on and off campus, and increasing the number of high-profile speakers the La Follette School brings to campus.
The application deadline is Friday, June 21.
