Professor emeritus Dennis Dresang and donors to the scholarship fund named for him will be recognized at the La Follette School's annual Madison reception on Thursday, February 6, at Inn on the Park, 22 South Carroll Street, on the Capitol Square.
The reception, which draws more than 100 alumni, friends, faculty, staff and students, will be 4:30-7 p.m., with a short presentation to Dresang at 5:30.
"We look forward to gathering to recognize Dennis' contributions to the university and state of Wisconsin," says La Follette School director Susan Yackee. "We are pleased that so many donors to the scholarship fund the La Follette School named for him are able to attend our annual reception for alumni and friends of the school."
Dresang will receive a plaque listing the names of Founding, Sustaining and Supporting Donors during the first three years of raising funds for the scholarship. Dresang retired in 2008 after 39 years with the university. Donations can be made to the fund anytime. First-year student Rob Stupar received the fund's first award. "I am grateful to all the donors," Stupar says. "The scholarship is helping me pay for tuition this year."
The reception is a great way for people to catch up with classmates and former professors, hear from students what they are learning, and talk with public affairs practitioners about their projects and plans. Alumni from the 1970s through 2013 have said they plan to attend.
The La Follette School Student Association is again holding its silent auction to support the graduation celebration at the Capitol in May.
