A Wisconsin company whose president is a La Follette School alum has announced plans to relocate its headquarters.
Kyle Weatherly, president of Solaris Inc., graduated from the La Follette School with a Master of Public Affairs degree in 2006. The company announced plans in late July to purchase 3.7 acres in Milwaukee's Menomonee Valley Industrial Center to relocate its operations from West Allis.
Solaris is a rapidly growing manufacturer of medical compression garments, primarily for treating lymphedema. Its customers include hospitals, durable medical equipment companies and distributors, with products in 50 states and 15 countries. Solaris plans to add 30 employees in the next two years to its current staff of 53, Weatherly told the Milwaukee Business Journal.
Solaris' new headquarters will also house two small startups, potentially early-stage companies involved in advanced manufacturing, 3-D printing and scanning, programming or cloud-based development, Weatherly told the Business Journal. "'We're moving from a multi-tenant building to a single-use building," Weatherly said. 'As we grow, we want to make sure we still have entrepreneurial energy. We think there's a ton we can learn from people just starting out. It will remind us of what it takes day in and day out.'"
