Internship Location: Madison WI
Organization Type: State Government
Policy Areas: Social Justice, constituent communication
I really enjoyed my internship. I learned a lot about how the people within local government work to get things done for constituents. I think that doing the internship while taking this class helped me to be more intentional about how I interact with my boss and coworkers, and helped me ask more directly for what I wanted to get out of the internship, which gave me more opportunities than I would’ve otherwise had. I was surprised by how much my boss was willing to let me do anything I found interesting, which was incredibly valuable to me, since my boss knew I was doing the internship for class credit, she made sure to check in about exactly what I wanted from the internship to prepare me for my future. I would absolutely recommend this class to other students, especially if you are nervous about specifically asking for what you want from a job, this class will make sure you do that, which helps you get experience for future jobs.
