Wisconsin AHEC

Internship Location: Remote

Organization Type: State Government

Policy Areas: Health, High School Policy, Education policy

(At Wisconsin AHEC) I learned about the various pathways offered to students in high school which allows them to not only get ahead academically of their peers, but also gives them the opportunity to earn certifications. By taking coursework at La Follette I was able to approach this internship through the lens of health policy and speak in a professional manner. I was surprised that there was so much being done at the high school level, in the region of health care, since I graduated. The most valuable experience was being able to present to PSW (pharmacy society of Wisconsin) as I am going into pharmacy school at UW-Madison. I would recommend this internship to future students because it gives you the tools to approach real world policy and helps you learn how to be an advocate for yourself in the professional setting. This internship helped me think more about my future career in pharmacy and how I can help get students involved when I am a pharmacist.
