WisCaregiver Careers 2.0 is an employment-first-based program run by the WHCA/WiCAL to address the CNA workforce shortage in Wisconsin. We partner with nursing homes across the state to provide free training for potential CNAs. The employer either trains the CNA trainee at their facility by following the CNA curriculum as a certified testing location, or they can partner with a technical college or another third-party training service. The trainee works at the nursing home while taking the CNA course, and upon certification, the nursing home is reimbursed through our $6 million grant from the CDC. I work behind the scenes with data management, and I also work as the first contact for anyone with questions about the program as a customer service specialist.  In terms of data management, I parse through our participating employer information to ensure that we are providing our candidates with the proper information, and I work with my supervisor to track how many successful candidates we have had so far in the program. As the customer service specialist, I promptly respond to emails and calls to help navigate candidates through the program, and I also work with existing and potential new participating employers to help make the process run smoothly on their ends.
