Interning while completing a La Follete course provided me an opportunity to slow down and reflect on my experience when my internship itself didn’t always give me the space to do so. Starting off the semester by setting goals gave me something to work towards besides just meeting the tasks of my internship. Further, having built in reflection moments let me process some complex emotions related to the matters my internship dealt with, namely the Israel Palestinian conflict. My internship did allow me to build a strong relationship with an early-mid career professional who has taken a path similar to one I might have long term and has helped me navigate many complex moments, as well as think about my options long term.
