Internship Location: Madison
Organization Type: Federal Government
Policy Areas: General Policy
Throughout my internship, I developed skills in communications, research, and organization. I had the opportunity to expand my knowledge of current legislation before congress on various topics such as the federal budget, crypto-currency regulations, voting laws, redistricting procedures, and more! By working in-district, I focused on the value that communications with constituents has on the policy-making process. I was pleasantly surprised to learn first-hand the efforts that go into supporting the systems around us. I would absolutely recommend a congressional internship at the district level to others, as such a position offers crucial exposure to the methods of public policymaking and governing. I am excited and more prepared to strive towards my future endeavors as I am more equipped with skills that cannot be taught in a classroom. I know I am working towards a career that can have a genuinely positive impact on others. By taking the intro courses with La Follette, I had a well-rounded understanding of the government agencies that I came into contact with throughout my internship responsibilities. I was well-prepared to complete the research components of my internship with excellence. My semester and summer with La Follette has been enriching and substantially beneficial to my future!
