The Wilderness Society

Internship Location: Remote

Organization Type: Nonprofit

Policy Areas: Environment, Social Justice

I enjoyed my internship experience because I became more familiar with environmental policy issues. The skills I’ve been learning at La Follette have allowed me to become a better writer and policy analyst. I was surprised at how many different stakeholders may be involved on one specific project. I valued learning about Indigenous people and culture. I would recommend this internship to future students because the people at the organization are passionate about their work; this encouraged me to be a better intern (the organization also works around your schedule). The internship helped me narrow down my policy interests. Although I now know that I do not want to work with an environmental policy focus, I have an overall greater appreciation for nature and access to public lands.
