Internship Location: Remote
Organization Type: Nonprofit
Policy Areas: Health, Finance, Economics, Social Policy
During my internship at the National Academy of Public Administration (NAPA), I gained experience in policy implementation, with a focus on health and finance. Working at NAPA, a non-partisan, non-profit organization, provided me with a unique perspective on policy development and overcoming “Grand Challenges.” This was a new area for me and allowed me to explore the intersection of policy in a practical setting. The skills I developed through my La Follette course, such as writing and analytical skills, were directly applicable to my work at NAPA, especially since I did a lot of research and writing. Applying these skills in a professional environment helped solidify my understanding and showed me the real-world implications of academic concepts. I appreciated the flexibility and support I received at NAPA, which enabled me to explore beyond my initial interests. The most valuable aspect of my internship was the hands-on experience and the opportunity to contribute meaningfully to ongoing projects. This experience has given me a clearer vision of how theoretical knowledge is applied in the field and reinforced my career aspirations in public administration. I thoroughly enjoyed my time at NAPA and would recommend this internship to future students for its comprehensive view of policy work and the chance to engage with experienced professionals.
