For my internship, I had the opportunity to work in the office of State Representative Samba Baldeh and gained a first-hand understanding of how government operates. This experience helped me gain a deeper understanding of the political process and develop my career goals. One of the most valuable aspects of the internship was seeing how constituents play a crucial role in the policymaking process. Before the internship, I had little knowledge of how much influence constituents had on policy decisions. The internship experience helped me realize that engaging with constituents and understanding their perspectives is critical to creating effective policies. Additionally, this internship gave me insight into the daily operations of a legislative office, which helped me better understand what a career in this field would entail. The internship provided me with a clearer idea of the responsibilities and skills needed to succeed in this line of work. As such, I can now confidently say that working in a legislative office is something I would like to do in the future. During my internship, I had the opportunity to connect with numerous individuals who were friendly, knowledgeable, and always willing to teach me something new. The staff were always available to answer my questions, provide guidance, and were willing to share their knowledge and experiences, which helped me gain a deeper understanding of the political process and the workings of a legislative office. Overall, my internship experience was a valuable and rewarding one that taught me a great deal about the political process and potential career paths. The experience helped me develop a better understanding of my goals and aspirations. I also made I am grateful for the opportunity to have participated in the internship.
