Public Citizen

Internship Location: Remote

Organization Type: Nonprofit

Policy Areas: Civil Engagement and Education

During my internship, I learned the importance of resourcefulness and creativity in public service. From what I’ve learned from La Follette, being detailed orientated, creative, and constantly open to learning are essential skills to be successful in a professional and academic setting. I was able to apply the skills I learned from La Follette to successfully add to the team at Public Citizen. In order to complete my tasks at Public Citizen, I was able to take what I know about civil engagement on campus to creatively come up with ways to engage more students, specifically new voters, in the 2024 election. This is a great internship for students looking to learn more about how NGOs, like Public Citizen, support the policy process! For me personally, it helped me see how NGOs play a pivotal role in the public policy process and civil engagement.
