Throughout my time working as an undergraduate research assistant in Dr. Patz’s climate change policy lab, I have analyzed many real world climate change policies. I have specifically researched the Inflation Reduction Act, a bill passed in 2022 which increases investment in domestic clean energy production to address climate change (among other aspects). I performed analysis on the health, equity, and climate impacts of the Inflation Reduction Act. I was able to write policy memos on topics like clean fuels and clean electricity and make recommendations to policy advocates to ensure the Inflation Reduction Act will have a large positive impact on health, equity, and climate. My time in the lab has helped me gain an interdisciplinary policy lens, developed my policy writing skills, and helped me gain first hand experience with real world policies.
